Elect JAMES WOJAS for Lowell City Council
www.jameswojas.com
About James Wojas:
-Family: Born in Lowell in 1969 to Michael and the late Brenna (Peladeau) Wojas of Lowell. Raised early years in Tyngsborough and finished high school at St. Joseph in Lowell. Blessed by two beautiful sons, Michael and Liam, and happily married to Susannah for over 14 years.
-Veteran: Served in the U.S. Navy as an Operations Intelligence Specialist.
-Career: Special Programs Security Manager for the U.S. Air Force.
Objectives for Lowell: - Fiscal Responsibility: Increased competition for our tax paid services will bring lower costs in infrastructure maintenance to promote efficiency . Careful budget reviews and revisions to truly reflect a city that is determined to make it through these tough economic times.
-Lower Property Taxes: The home owners and proprietors of Lowell are by far the major burden bearers of the city’s budget outside of state tax funding. James will vote down any budget or legislation that will increase their tax burden to include fees. With a more constrained budget, fewer taxes are necessary including taxation through fees. We want our great citizens, young and old to have a desire to stay here proudly.
-Safe Neighborhoods: It has become a great concern to many residents that the crime rate in this city is far too high for a professional community. We have to make ourselves clear to the perpetrators that the people of Lowell are NOT fodder for gangs, sex offenders and random acts of violence. Community awareness along with adequately manned and properly equipped Police and Fire protection are aspects of our government on which we should not skimp.
-Increased Proprietorship: With our local businesses having to fight harder to maintain revenue against a 25% increase in state sales tax, our local government should be doing everything possible to help them balance the odds to stay in business. We needn’t impose further burdens on the proprietors to start or stay in business but instead help those who employ so many citizens of this city. Where employee numbers increase, taxes and fees should decrease as an incentive that can be passed down to the consumer and help our city thrive.
-Small Government: Massachusetts in general seems to operate on a concept that the more people that work for the government, the better. James believes differently. James believes that unlike the state, whose employee numbers have been increasing while the private industry jobs have gone down are small signs of over reliance on government and a move toward socialism. We need not look to the east to find our freedom, it was earned the old fashion way right here in the Good Ol' U.S.A. Remember that the government works for you, not the other way around!
